SES satellite to be deployed into 28.2/28.5 degrees East orbital arc

(BUSINESS WIRE) - SES S.A. (NYSE Paris:SESG) (LuxX:SESG) announces that the ASTRA 2G satellite roared into space on board an ILS Proton Breeze M booster last night at 03:37:49 Baikonur time (22:37:49 CET and 16:37:49 EST on December 27). After a 9-hour, 12-minute mission, the Breeze M upper stage of the Proton rocket successfully released the ASTRA 2G satellite into geostationary transfer orbit.
ASTRA 2G will be deployed at the 28.2/28.5 degrees orbital arc. The satellite was built for SES by Airbus Defence and Space. Based on the highly reliable Eurostar E3000 platform, the spacecraft carries 62 Ku-band transponders, as well as 4 Ka-band transponders. It will enable the delivery of next generation broadcast and broadband services in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. ASTRA 2G, which had a launch mass of 6 tons, will feature a wingspan of 40 meters once its solar arrays are deployed in orbit, generating 13 kW of spacecraft power at the end of its 15-year design lifetime.

With the launch of ASTRA 2G, SES also supports SATMED, an e-health platform aimed to improve public health in emerging and developing countries, most significantly in isolated areas with poor connectivity. SATMED enables communication between doctors, thus enabling. the transfer and exchange of medical knowledge and supporting tools for medical e-learning and e-teaching. The satellite-based solution is developed by SES and supported by the Luxembourg Government and the Ministry for Cooperation and Humanitarian Action.

Saif bin Zayed Instructs the Establishment of a Central Administration to Realize Customers Happiness in Naturalization and Residency Sector

Lt. General H.H Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior instructed the establishment of a central administration at the Naturalization, Residency, and Ports sector. This administration will be responsible for maximizing and realizing sustainable happiness for the Sector’s customers. This initiative comes in response to the recommendations of the committee of customer service centers management that were decided in the second meeting of developing the sector which was chaired by H.H Sheikh Saif recently.
Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Acting Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior for Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs said that the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Sector has studied and established an administration to realize customers’ happiness. “This step was taken in response to the higher leadership directives that instructed the transitioning from the traditional concepts of customers’ happiness to more modern concepts,” He noted. “These concepts aim at providing services that surpass expectations and help in providing a rich experience and strong ties that are based on trust and communication between the sector and customers.”
Major General Al Khaili also added that this initiative will be implemented in all MoI customer service centers after finalizing the initial implementation at the Naturalization, Residency, and Ports Sector. He also noted that measuring the actual application of customer happiness concept will be through advanced electronic systems that are equipped with the most recent technologies. These systems will provide timely reports for decision makers that cover commitment levels to happiness indicators and other related objectives.
For his part, Colonel Dr. Abdullah Abdurrahman bin Sultan, Head of Strategy and Performance Development Department, and Chairman of the Customer Service Centers Administration in the Sector said that the customer happiness administration will include all external offices at the sector. “This aims at implementing the customer happiness concept on all organizational levels,” He stressed. “This includes the establishment of permanent customer happiness councils in the sector’s customer service centers. These councils will provide the institutional platform for direct communication between officials and customers. ADP: 120 Officers’ Children Participate in ‘Friends of Police’ Program

The Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, represented by the Cultural and Social Activities Section at the Clubs Department, organized the Friends of the Police Program for children of officers, non-commissioned officers, and civilians working at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters. A total of 120 officers’ children aged between 6 and 14 years took part in the program, which is taking place during the first semester vacation of the year 2014-2015 at Abu Dhabi Police Officers’ Club.
Colonel Aref Saif Al Shamesi, Head of Clubs and Sports Activities Department, stressed the importance of the program in empowering the young generation with skills that will ultimately benefit them in the future. He added that this year’s program includes a number of cultural activities, an open sports day and several field visits to a number of Police Departments in addition to recreational visits to the Al Samaliya traditional village, the Emirates Park Zoo located in Al Bahia, and the Environment Friends Society.

In a first visit, the ‘Friends of the Police’ students were acquainted with the tasks and duties of the Operations Rooms at the Directorate General of Central Operations; and were briefed about the services provided to the public. They also visited the Anti-Narcotics Section at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and were given a number of awareness tips about the risks of drugs. They visited the Al Samaliya traditional village to invest their potential in useful and beneficial activities and to enhance their skills.
The program represents a valuable opportunity to learn about the popular local heritage, and to instill in the youth the values of citizenship, loyalty, and belonging to the homeland and its leadership. The visit also included the Action Zone amusement park located in Al Meena in Abu Dhabi.

Saif bin Zayed Attends Signing of MoU to Raise Awareness of Juveniles about Law Respect Culture

Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, attended, today “Wednesday”, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Law Respect Culture Bureau and the Juveniles Awareness and Care Association. The MoU is intended to enhance cooperation on establishing law respect culture among the Emirati youth. The signing ceremony took place at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ).
The MoU was signed by Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of the Dubai Police and General Security, Chairman of the Association, and Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, representing the Ministry of Interior.
The signing was attended by Major General Khalil Dawood Badran, Director General of Finance and Services; Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations; Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Salah Obeid Al Ghoul, Director of Law Respect Culture Bureau; Lt. Under the MoU, both parties will endeavor to raise awareness about law respect and instill this culture among the youth so it would become a daily practice and conduct. Both sides will also cooperate in raising awareness of youth groups in clubs and sporting facilities, through awareness lectures and educational competitions about law respect.
The MoU also includes organizing educational activities about the law, its importance in protecting society and fulfilling its future goals, cooperating in spreading awareness stories through the association’s website and social media.

Abu Dhabi Police Calls upon the Public to Renew the Expired Vehicles Registrations
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Wednesday, December 24th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
Abu Dhabi Police called upon the public, particularly drivers, to renew the expired vehicles registrations, for the sake of ensuring their safety by driving safe and technically reliable vehicles and avoiding legal accountability in case of accidents.
These messages are part of the five-week radio campaign, ‘Security Glances’, launched by the Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of His Highness Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, represented by the Radio Branch, designed to provide the public with awareness messages and security tips.
Colonel Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Chief of the Vehicles Licensing Section at the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department, will deliver a radio address on Thursday, urging drivers to visit the technical inspection and customer service centers to check the safety and serviceability of their vehicles and to renew the registration cards.
Colonel Al Khaili will also call upon drivers in general to perform the periodical technical vehicle inspection to check the validity and good condition of the vehicles’ tires especially during summer, to ensure their own safety and the safety of other road users, and to avoid traffic accidents that may result from unexpected tire bursts while driving.

Atos and Panasonic Agree to Jointly Develop AV and IT Solutions
TOKYO - Saturday, December 27th 2014(BUSINESS WIRE/ME NewsWire) -- Atos K.K. (Atos) and Panasonic Corporation (Panasonic) today announced that they will jointly develop technology-based solutions for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Tokyo-based Atos K.K. is a subsidiary of Atos SE (Societas Europaea), which is headquartered in Bezons, France.
Atos has been an Official Worldwide Olympic Partner in the IT category since the Salt Lake 2002 Winter Games. Similarly Panasonic has been a contributor to the Olympic and Paralympic Movement since becoming an Official Worldwide Olympic Partner in the Audio Visual (AV) category during the Calgary 1988 Winter Games.
Under this agreement, Atos, a leader in information and communication technology services and Panasonic, an audio visual technology giant, will each provide its expertise in their respective fields as part of this collaborative effort. Together, the two companies will create new business synergies, utilizing the know-how they have gained separately as technology partners of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The two companies intend to form various working groups to jointly develop and test AV security systems, as well as electronic visual display systems including digital signage to be placed in the stadiums and other facilities used during the Tokyo 2020 Games. Specifically, these working groups will address various themes such as the roll-out of sophisticated multilingual digital displays.
