SES and GEE Sign Breakthrough Connectivity Deal to Drive Mobility

Leading content and connectivity provider acquires satellite communications payload to accelerate next-generation connectivity on the move

LUXEMBOURG - Friday, January 13th 2017 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- SES S.A. (Euronext Paris:SESG) (LuxX:SESG) today announced that GEE (NASDAQ: ENT) has acquired a Ku-band payload on SES’s AMC-3 satellite to boost capacity for its customers in North America, the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean.

GEE will rebrand the acquired satellite communications payload as Eagle 1. SES will operate the non-station-kept satellite and will support GEE’s strategic plan to optimize the quality of experience for its mobility customers on air land and sea.

“This satellite is a key element in the strategic expansion of our global satellite network,” said Abel Avellan President of GEE. “Our vision is to reach hundreds of millions of people on the move around the world with a reasonably priced, high-speed Wi-Fi experience that’s equivalent to what they get at their homes or offices. To that end, GEE is increasing satellite capacity and upgrading our robust ground infrastructure of owned teleports. We are also bringing to market a portfolio of exclusive solutions, such as our patented SpeedNet™ high-speed browsing technology. For users, that means the best value and experience for entertainment and internet mobility services wherever they travel.”

SES Completes Refinancing of O3b Debt

USD 1.4 billion of debt refinanced at lower rates, generating EUR 60 million of annual financial costs savings from 2017

LUXEMBOURG - Thursday, January 12th 2017 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- SES S.A. (Euronext Paris:SESG) (LuxX:SESG) today announced the refinancing of the remaining O3b debt.

Since acquiring the remaining shares in O3b, SES has refinanced the entire USD 1.4 billion of gross debt at a materially lower average funding rate. This will deliver a total of approximately EUR 60 million of annual finance cost savings, starting from 2017.

The refinancing was funded using cash that was available at Group level, which included the proceeds of the hybrid bond issued by SES S.A. in November 2016. SES's weighted average cost of funding is around 4%, which is significantly lower than the average cost of the previous O3b debt.

“The early completion of the O3b debt refinancing is an important source of value creation for shareholders and enhances SES’s overall return on its investment in O3b”, commented Padraig McCarthy, CFO of SES. “O3b’s unique global solution represents an important growth accelerator for SES. The annual financing synergies will allow SES to maximize profitability and drive long-term returns.”

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Maverick Therapeutics Inc., an MPM Capital portfolio company, and Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited (TSE:4502) announced today that they have entered a collaboration to develop Maverick’s T-cell engagement platform created specifically to improve the utility of T-cell redirection therapy for the treatment of cancer. The $125 million of funding includes an upfront option, equity and research and development funding payments, and provides Takeda the exclusive right to purchase Maverick after five years for an undisclosed sum. “We believe that this collaboration validates Maverick’s approach to T-cell engagement in the tumor microenvironment which we believe will allow us to address previously intractable oncology targets,” said Jeanmarie Guenot, Ph.D., Maverick’s co-founder. “Importantly, this strong collaboration should allow us to move rapidly to the clinic and address unmet needs in cancer immunotherapy.”

“We see significant potential in Maverick to develop unique, small and customizable T-cell engagement therapeutics,” said Phil Rowlands, Interim Head, Oncology Therapeutic Area Unit, Takeda. “Collaborations are critical to helping us advance our aspiration of curing cancer. Maverick’s therapeutic antibodies are designed to be inactive upon administration but fully active in the tumor microenvironment. Maverick was founded by Jeanmarie Guenot, Ph.D., MPM founder Luke Evnin, Ph.D., and Patrick Baeuerle, Ph.D., an internationally renowned cancer immunologist and an acknowledged leader in the T-cell redirection field.

Leading UAE Cybersecurity Company Launches New Threat Advisory Service to Help Protect Companies’ IT Infrastructure and Reduce Information Overload

New service lets clients receive relevant, customized, and actionable cybersecurity alerts that have been reviewed by Analysts, highlighting the threats and mitigation steps that matter to them

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, January 10th 2017 [ME NewsWire]

Managed FZ LLC, a leading provider of Brand Risk Monitoring, Cybersecurity, and Managed Security Products and Services, announced today the launch of its new Managed Security Advisory (MSA) Service. The smart threat monitoring and advisory service aims to cut through the noise of threat information overload facing regional IT departments today. The MSA service notifies its clients of threats, vulnerabilities, or security concerns directly impacting their specific infrastructure, with risk mitigation steps to reduce threat impact.

“We have observed that most companies in the GCC region do not benefit from the existing threat advisory services.  Most advisory services are automated and send a very large number of daily alerts, most of which are irrelevant to IT decision makers. Also, a lot of these alerts don’t apply to the GCC region, which has its own set of particular threats and issues.” said Mr. Sameer Hussain, CEO of Managed. “In addition, some managers might be too busy to review any alerts, even important ones, which could lead to those crucial and relevant alerts and feeds being ignored. Our Managed Security Advisory Service uses a proprietary threat intelligence monitoring and classification engine, along with active human analysis and validation, to isolate the important and relevant threats from the inconsequential ones, and show clients the focused data that is needed to avert a dangerous situation, because all it takes is one little item to go unchecked for a potential data catastrophe to happen.”

Managed’s threat intelligence system collects data feeds from hundreds of vendors, developers, researchers, honeypots, and threat feed providers, with a focus on GCC and regional threats. A smart system matches the client’s specific infrastructure setup and threat information requirements to the incoming feeds using proprietary machine learning algorithms and presents to Managed’s Threat Analyst the alerts that are relevant to the clients. The Threat Analyst then reviews the alert to ensure that it is relevant and actionable. Once it is confirmed that the alerts and threats impact the client, an advisory is created that includes information on the threat and recommended mitigation actions. The advisory is sent out immediately, with clients being notified through email, SMS and phone calls depending on the urgency of the situation. All of this is monitored 24x7x365 from Managed’s Dubai-based NOC/SOC.

All clients also get a Daily Cybersecurity Briefing that is sent early in the morning, which allows them to become up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity-related incidents and threats, in less than a minute.
