Monster’s 6Sense® Semantic Search Technology Launches in the Netherlands

Power Resume Search®, Powered by 6Sense®, Improves Hiring Efficiency and Effectiveness for Companies around the World

MAYNARD, Mass. - Monday, April 1st 2013 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Monster, the worldwide leader in successfully connecting people to job opportunities and flagship brand of Monster Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: MWW) announced this week that the company’s 6Sense® semantic search technology, which is the technology behind Power Resume Search™, is now available in the Netherlands. Recruiters in seven countries can now quickly and precisely find and target candidates who best meet their hiring needs.

Monster’s team in the Netherlands worked on the 6Sense knowledge base for over two years prior to launch. 48 clients from different sectors participated in the beta phase, which lasted over 8 months, and conducted over 37,000 searches to test and give feedback. This feedback was then incorporated into the knowledge base before the product launched this month.

“With the size of resume databases growing from thousands to tens of millions, 6Sense is the perfect answer to the challenges businesses face when seeking new employees,” Mark Conway, Chief Information Officer, Monster Worldwide. “A top priority for companies around the world is to quickly and accurately fill openings and Monster’s technology uniquely addresses that need. For job seekers, 6Sense powered search delivers relevant job search results, precisely matching people with opportunities better than ever before.”

In side-by-side comparisons with competitive sites using standard keyword search technology, 97 percent of recruiters in the U.S. reported they found qualified candidates faster when using Monster's 6Sense search technology.

Monster’s 6Sense semantic search technology enables employers to find the best candidates significantly quicker by analyzing resumes as a hiring manager would. Through Power Resume Search, resumes are read and skills evaluated to provide understanding of an individual’s experience in seconds instead of hours. Semantic search technology goes far beyond traditional keyword search, saving time and increasing productivity, allowing recruiters to see relevant resumes in less time creating unprecedented hiring efficiency by providing faster access to better qualified candidates.

Developed through Monster's 2008 acquisition of search leader Trovix Inc., Monster's 6Sense patented semantic search technology utilizes intuitive, concept based searching, with a human-like understanding of the recruiting process and hiring needs. The 6Sense precision matching technology understands job titles, skills, experience level, industries, education and the hierarchy of concepts, evaluating a candidate's work experience like a recruiter would in a fraction of the time. While traditional keyword search engines are limited in their ability to distinguish concepts and meanings of words and cannot address things like recent vs. dated experience, the intelligence of the 6Sense technology contextually interprets the meaning behind words and concepts rather than relying on the narrow, literal meaning of keywords.

“The laws of physics make it near impossible for recruiters to effectively comb through resumes by hand, especially if they were to only use a standard simple keyword search. For example, that type of search for marketing resumes in Monster’s database would deliver well over one million resumes,” said Earl Rennison, Vice President of Architecture for Monster Worldwide. “On average, it takes a recruiter 90 seconds to review just one resume. If a recruiter were to spend 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, screening the one million resumes, it would take nearly 3 years to rank order candidates. With 6Sense technology, the task is completed in two seconds.”

6Sense and Power Resume Search are currently available in the US, UK, France, Canada, Germany, Australia and now the Netherlands. For more information on Monster’s 6Sense semantic search technology and full suite of Monster technology solutions, visit http://findbetter.monster.com/.
