Saif bin Zayed Attends Graduation Ceremony of Cadets and Graduates at Police College

Under the Patronage of Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan

Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, attended the graduation ceremony of the 25th batch of cadets and university graduates and the 9th batch of female university graduates. The ceremony took place on Wednesday at the Police College Headquarters in Abu Dhabi under the patronage of General HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The ceremony was attended by HH Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation; Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development; and Dr. Mohammed Ali bin Koman, Secretary General of the Arab Interior Ministers Council; alongside a number of ministers.

The ceremony was also attended by Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior; Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of the Dubai Police and General Security; Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police; Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Resources and Support Services;  in addition to police chiefs and director generals. Brigadier Sheikh Mohammad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Director of the Peripheral Regions Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police also attended the ceremony alongside diplomatic corps members, senior armed forces and police officers, members of the delegations representing the graduates from sister countries, and the parents of the graduates.

Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, stressed that the top priority of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE – May God protect him – is for the UAE to continue to be a safe, stable, and secure society, and to be a leader for other nations as it continues its developmental march towards achieving further progress, prosperity, and advancement. His Highness Sheikh Saif pointed out that the policing system and the human cadres have received generous support from His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; his brothers, members of the Federal Supreme Council, rulers of the Emirates; and General HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. Such support has enabled the police forces to protect the security of the homeland, to preserve national gains, and to provide a safe life for all citizens, residents, and visitors within the wholesome lands of the UAE.

In his statement regarding the graduation ceremony for the Police College, HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed said: “The next phase of our glorious march led by Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE – May God protect him -  requires more effort and work to improve security performance and to enhance the efficiency of the police services. It is essential that we continue adopting the latest methods of modern technologies and concepts in the field of police work, remain steadfast in our devotion to the principle of community participation, and raise awareness in issues of security and culture amongst members of society. Security is a shared responsibility, and it consists of meeting the requirements for sustainable development and keeping abreast of international changes and the various challenges that ensue.”

His Highness Sheikh Saif hailed the role of the Police College and of those who had made it possible through their continuous efforts and dedication of all possible energies towards the preparation and qualification of the UAE’s manpower. Every step taken has fulfilled the needs of the police and security bodies within the UAE in an effort to achieve security, enforce the law, and promote stability nation-wide.

Upon the conclusion of his statement, His Highness Sheikh Saif congratulated the graduates and urged them to set examples for the sons and daughters of the country by guarding their reputation and by elevating their work in their various fields of work. His Highness called upon them to continue their education, to further develop their skills, and to stay current with the latest developments in their fields in order to provide the best policing services to all segments of society. The graduates are expected to reflect their absolute integrity, honesty, sincerity, and sense of responsibility at all times and with a smile on their face.

Near the end of the ceremony, Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan congratulated the graduates for their achievements and urged them to exert further efforts and to persevere in order to acquire the necessary experience to give back to the gratuitous nation and the higher leadership. By doing so, the graduates will contribute to the preservation of the UAE as an oasis of security and prosperity.

The graduation ceremony began with the entry of the graduates’ ceremonial field line-up and the arrival of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan who inspected the graduates’ line. Following the national anthem played by the Abu Dhabi Police Music Band, the leader of the line-up asked His Highness for permission to begin the ceremony.

Colonel Saif Al Ketbi, Police College Director, gave a speech during the ceremony. Welcoming His Highness, he said: “Your presence and patronage for this ceremony is a great honor to us all at the Police College. Today, we celebrate a new batch of the country’s sons and daughters alongside our fellow brethren from other Arab countries who represent the 25th batch of male cadets and university graduates, and the 9th batch of female university graduates.”

He added: “The higher leadership has been focused on building this country and its citizens, and has paid much attention to the people in order to provide them with all of the necessities to succeed. Knowing that it is the people of the nation that are the main pillar that supports comprehensive development, our leaders know this is no ordinary task. Through the provision and preparation of opportunities, all walks of life are guided towards a prosperous and bright future.” He then reiterated that the vision of the Police College is derived from such directives.

He mentioned that the students of the College received their education and training in policing and security in accordance with a modern and sophisticated system that had been painstakingly developed and modernized. The higher leadership at the Ministry of Interior has also provided the ongoing support and follow-up in an effort to reach the highest standards of excellence and to serve the society of the UAE.

Colonel Al Ketbi pointed out that “The ceremony today comes as a direct result of this care and attention paid by the higher leadership. The graduates are ready and energized to contribute their skills gained through their training in police work, law, and the related sciences. They are ready to join their colleagues in the work field; they are prepared to enforce the law and are armed with the will and determination to do so. They are ready to meet the challenges of protecting society, and have successfully accomplished all requirements for graduation. The 25th batch of graduating cadets has been granted a Bachelor’s degree in Policing Sciences and Criminal Justice, and the male and female university students have been granted a Diploma in Policing Sciences.”

The Director of the Police College expressed his sincerest gratitude to the police leadership for its unwavering and continuous support to the College. “This attention has motivated the staff members of the Police College to continue their development, modernization, and scientific research in the fields of police work. The support has enabled the College to effectively provide the Ministry of Interior with skilled and highly-qualified personnel,” he said. Adding further, Colonel Al Ketbi, expressed his sincerest appreciation and gratitude to the higher leadership for its continuous support, sponsorship and diligent follow-up, for this has transformed the Police College into a modern beacon for police studies. In his speech to the graduates, he said: “Here you are today, on the threshold of a new phase in your professional life - soon you will join your colleagues in the real field of work. Fear God in your work, obey your leaders, and arm yourselves with love for your country and loyalty for the higher leadership. Help those that are in need, draw your strength from justice, and be faithful to those of whom you have sworn an oath to.”    Following the speech, HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan handed the Sword of Honor to cadet Mohammed Obeid Al Rashidi for ranking first in the overall score, first in sports, first in infantry, and first in shooting and firearms. His Highness Sheikh Saif also handed awards to the other top achieving students. 

Graduates then took the legal oath. The 25th batch of graduates then handed the flag of the Police College to the 26th batch, keeping the flag high as it hovered above them to the sound of the national anthem, and the anthem of the flag. The graduated cadets repeated “Long live His Highness, President of the UAE” three times, and the chants were followed by a recitation of the themed poem “We are all Khalifa” (Kulluna Khalifa).

Upon conclusion of the ceremony that took place on the fields of the Police College, H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor, received a memorial gift from Colonel Al Ketbi. Ceremonial photos were taken of H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan; the board of directors of the Police College; and of the graduates. The leader of the line-up asked permission from His Highness, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, for permission to leave upon announcing the conclusion of the graduation ceremony. Commemorative photos were taken following the end of the ceremony.

Following the graduation ceremonies in the Al Etihad Hall at the College, Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior, accompanied by Colonel Saif Al Ketbi, Police College Director, distributed the certificates to the graduates of the 25th batch of male cadets and university graduates, and the 9th batch of female university graduates. The higher leadership, senior officers from the Ministry of Interior, members of the delegations representing the graduates from sister countries, and the parents of the graduates were in attendance.

The new cohort of graduates totaled 387 graduates, both male and female, including 162 cadets, 205 male university students, and 20 female university students. The cadets included 14 students from seven different Arab countries: two from Kuwait, three from Qatar, one from Palestine, and two students from each of the countries of Jordan, Yemen, Bahrain, and the Islands of Comoros.
