‘The legitimacy of the Nation State in Muslim Societies’ is the theme of the annual ‘Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies’

Dr. Mohammed Mattar Al Kaabi, Secretary General of the ‘Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies’ announced that the third annual Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies will be held on December from 18th – 19th at Jumeirah at Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi.

Dr. Al Kaabi recognises the paramount importance of this conference and expresses his heartfelt appreciation for the UAE government for their continuous cooperation in supporting this initiative. Of particular appreciation is of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, for his patronage and under whom this has been organised by with the supervision of HE Sheikh Abdullah Bin Bayyah, the President of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies. Dr. Al Kaabi further points out that this conference is parallel to the nation’s goals of addressing and implementing national tolerance and concord.


“Since its inception in 2014, the conference has been able to enhance the intellectual ethos with significant coverage of peace that is constructed on the renewal of principles in Islam. In addition, it has also been able to create mechanisms of coexistence in the progression of peace and reconciliation in some conflict zones,” he added.


The theme of the third annual Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies will be ‘The National State in Muslim Societies.’ “This topic will serve as an intellectual springboard that aims to transform religious discourse which will prove to be vital in understanding the national state, its legitimacy and relevance in promoting peace”, concluded Dr. Al Kaabi.
