New hire brings 25 years of experience in maritime and product management to growing maritime and offshore-focussed team
Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Monday, February 2nd 2015 [ME NewsWire]
Thuraya Telecommunications, a leading Mobile Satellite Services (MSS) operator has further strengthened its maritime team with the appointment of Keith Murray as Maritime Product Manager, based in Dubai.
Murray’s key tasks will be to increase the penetration of the Orion IP maritime broadband terminal in the market and oversee the commercial roll-out of the new Atlas IP broadband terminal in the first quarter of 2015.
Commenting on his appointment, Murray said: “The market is ready for a new alternative in the maritime segment. Thuraya’s combination of very competitive prices, new broadband terminals and reliable service positions us well. This role is a great opportunity for me to drive our maritime business forward. The maritime sector continues to be very dynamic in terms of speed of adoption and is still showing encouraging growth, both in the flow down from regulation and upward momentum from users whose expectation is that they should be connected no matter where they are.”
He will work closely with Maritime Market Development Manager Leticia Diaz Del Rio and Maritime Sales Manager Phoebe Wang as Thuraya continues to build its reputation as a provider of robust communications to maritime, shipping and offshore markets.
Murray joins Thuraya from Airbus Defence and Space where he was responsible for managing the lifecycle of products and systems in the naval satellite communication segment. He brings over two decades of business and customer-facing experience, almost of half of it in satellite communications.
Welcoming the appointment, Randy Roberts, Vice President, Innovation at Thuraya, said: “By putting in place an experienced maritime team in Dubai as well as in Singapore, Thuraya is well positioned to execute on our unique maritime strategy and value proposition. Our investment in the people we need, like Keith, to support that strategy demonstrates to the market that we are committed to supporting them for the long term.”
Murray previously held roles as Product Manager (Naval Satcom Systems) for Airbus Defense and Space. He has a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Heriot-Watt University.
