ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Monday, May 25th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

On behalf of the Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Fujairah, Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Acting Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs, received the ISO 10004:2012 for Quality Management. The internationally recognized certificate was presented by Bassem Obeid, from Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) EMEA and managing director for Abu Dhabi; and from Bilal Abdul Ghani, also from LRQA.

The Directorate has become the first international authority to meet the quality standards and to receive the certificate. Such a feat has been made possible under the leadership of Brigadier Mubarak Rabi bin Sinan, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Fujairah.

The Directorate has sufficiently fulfilled all five standards of the Integrated Management Systems, which include: ISO 9001:2008 for Quality Management; ISO 27001:2013 for Information Security; ISO 10004:2012 for Customer Satisfaction; ISO 18001:2007 for Occupational Health and Safety; and ISO 14001:2004 for Environmental Management.

Major General Al Khaili asserted that acquiring this certificate represents the vision and aspirations of the police leadership and its ongoing support to the sector. He also praised the efforts provided by the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development at the Ministry of Interior, and the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development at the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs.

“The certificate from Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance attests that we are the first authority in the world to receive the ISO 10004:2012 for customer satisfaction,” he said. “The efforts have added yet another international milestone that can be added to the achievements of the Ministry of Interior.”

For his part, Brigadier bin Sinan explained that this achievement would not have been accomplished without the directives of the police leadership. The certificate awards the strategic initiatives of the Ministry of Interior to enhance customer service in order to gain public confidence and to gain their satisfaction.

He also noted that the project was implemented in accordance with the timeframe and fostered concepts of quality and excellence in everyday practices of the personnel in order to achieve the desired results from the integrated system.

The Integrated Management Systems project was implemented at the Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Fujairah as a leading experiment. A team at the level of the Directorate Generals of Residency and Foreigners Affairs was formed to disseminate the experience throughout other directorates and organizational units under the authority. The formation of the team and subsequent implementation of the project follow the guidance of the assistant undersecretary within the framework of the Strategy and Performance Development Directorate, which calls for coordination with the Quality Management Department at the MoI.

Colonel Dr. Abdullah Abdurrahman bin Sultan, Head of Strategy and Performance Development at the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs, explained the details of the process and stages of establishing and implementing the Integrated Management System. He additionally discussed the assessment methods used during the initial stages of the project, alongside the annual plan that has been established in order to insure the sustainability of the system. To monitor the process of implementation and sustainability, he explained that a comprehensive structure was developed alongside working groups comprised of 25 employees from various organizational units of the Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Fujairah.
