Security Support Leaves to Rome to Review Latest Practices Adopted by Italian Police

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Saturday, May 2nd 2015 [ME NewsWire]

A delegation from the Security Support Department at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters left to Rome, Italy at the invitation of the Italian Police (Carabinieri). The visit, which began on May 2, will continue until May 8, and aims at reviewing the latest operational practices in police work and conducting capacity benchmarking of the Security Support Department while performing unconventional tasks.

The Abu Dhabi Police delegation includes Colonel Khaled Saeed Al Shamesi, Head of Security Support Department; Major Mohammed Mubarak Al Masa’bi, Security Support Patrols Branch Manager; First Warrant Officer Ismail Ali Al Hosani; Italian training specialist Giancarlo Candiano; and Legal Consultant Abu Baker Abdullah Abdul Wahhab.

Colonel Khaled Saeed Al Shamesi said: “The visit comes in response to the wise directives of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, which stress the need to get closely acquainted with the tasks undertaken by leading international police bodies , in order to provide the Security Support Department’s staff members with further advanced hands-on expertise in all areas of field work, as well as handling reports, and patrol work, so as to promote safety and security in the country.”

Moreover, Colonel Al Shamesi stressed the keen interest of HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed towards qualifying personnel and developing their capabilities; commensurate with the strategic objectives of the Ministry of Interior. He also noted that the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ constantly strives to enhance the professional skills of its personnel, by providing highly efficient vocational training programs, in order to enable staff members to achieve its strategic plans and objectives.

He also explained that the visit aims to exchange common experiences with the Carabinieri in Rome. He said: “The visit schedule will include a visit to the Carabinieri GHQ, where the UAE delegation will attend a documentary showcasing the history of the Carabinieri. The delegation members will also visit Tevari Police Station and the Carabinieri Regional Headquarters in Rome, in addition to the patrol vehicles station in Rome, where the ADP Security Support members will take part hands-on in the Italian Police patrols’ duties.

It is worth mentioning that the Security Support Department at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, which was inaugurated in November 2013, travels for the first time to Italy on a one-week tour aimed at enhancing police relations between both countries. The Security Support Department is in charge of undertaking unconventional security missions and providing armed support to field police units. This would enhance public safety for the public as well as for police and security personnel.
