ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Thursday, August 20th 2015 [ME NewsWire]
The Juvenile Welfare and Protection Department at the General Directorate of Community Protection and Crime Prevention at the Ministry of Interior launched the ‘Summer Voyage’ initiative with the aim to rehabilitate juvenile delinquents. The initiative also intends to develop the behavior and skills of the youth while filling their leisure time during the summer. The programs included in the initiative benefit both the youth and their families as it aims to enable the juveniles to assume both a positive and vital role in the community.
Colonel Mohammed Al Hosani, Head of the Department, stressed that the initiative launched by the Juveniles Care Center at the Abu Dhabi Police features a number of training programs organized by specialists, social workers, and psychologists. The programs include training to stimulate the creative thinking skills of the juvenile delinquents and encourage them to utilize collective thinking to generate creative ideas. Additionally, the programs include courses on proper etiquette; first aid; mock evacuation and rescue drills; and a number of religious, sport, heritage, health, and cultural activities and events. The programs were carried out in collaboration with the Emergency and Public Safety Department at the Abu Dhabi Police.
According to Colonel Al Hosani, the Department is keen to provide a variety of events and activities for the juveniles in order to develop their skills and help them reach their full potential. “We are committed to equipping these youth with the essential sciences and knowledge that will enable them to effectively engage with their peers in the community,” he said. “The Department’s Juveniles Care Center endeavors to rehabilitate juvenile delinquents through specialized and advanced programs that are designed to develop positive behaviors, where they will ultimately be able to join the community as upright and qualified individuals.”
