In Conjunction with the 44th National Day Celebrations

The winners of the Al Ain Police Sports Shield Championship were honored during a ceremony held in conjunction with the UAE’s 44th National Day celebrations. The sports championship was organized by the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development at the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Sports Activity Department.
Brigadier Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General at the Ministry of Interior, stressed the keenness of the Ministry of Interior to organize various sporting events, and develop its staff members' skills through various activities and practices. Such efforts stem from the Ministry’s belief in the integral role that sporting effectively contributes to character development. “Police work requires a keen sense of knowledge, skills, intellect, and expertise,” he said; noting that the organization of such competitions enhances the level of performance in every aspect.
For his part, Colonel Mohammed Suhail Al Rashidi, Director of the Al Ain Police Directorate, delivered a speech during the ceremony. Al Rashidi, underlined the importance of sports and physical activity in developing the officers' policing skills. "Organizing these competitions in conjunction with the celebrations for the UAE’s 44th National Day is reflected positively through the intellectual and psychological activity of the athletes; and contributes to enhancing the performance of their duties. This activity additionally strengthens the spirit of communication between departments and individuals,” he said.
The Shield Championship featured three sports tournaments, namely the running championship, the fitness and challenge championship, and the tug of war championship.
The Police Schools Department ranked first in the running championship, followed by the Sweihan Police Station and the Falaj Hazza Police Station in second and third positions, respectively. In the fitness and challenge championship, the Falaj Hazza Police Station ranked first, followed by Zakher Police Station and the Al Saad Police Station in the second and third positions, respectively. The Falaj Hazza Police Station won the tug of war championship, while the workshops branch ranked second.
