Al Rumaithi Invited to Attend the 22nd Edition of the Gulf Cup of Nations

H.E Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police and Chairman of the Police Sports Association, received an invitation from Prince Abdullah bin Musa'id bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Arabia's General President of Youth Welfare and Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee for the 22nd edition of the Gulf Cup of Nations to attend the official opening ceremony of the biennial football competition, which will be held at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh on November 13.

The invitation was delivered to H.E at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters by Mr. Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Khamis, the Secretary-General of the Saudi Football Federation, in the presence of Mohammed Abdullah Hazzam Al Dhahiri, Acting Secretary General of the United Arab Emirates Football Association (UAEFA).

H.E Major General Al Rumaithi extended his thanks to the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and to HH Prince Abdullah bin Musa'id bin Abdulaziz for the invitation. He also expressed his hope to see the tournament achieve its coveted goals and aspirations. Additionally, he stressed the importance of the tournament in fostering amiability and affection between the Gulf youth, citing KSA’s considerable experience and admirable skills in organizing sporting events, and its high-end sports facilities.

He also stressed the importance of investing in this regional youth sport gathering for the benefit of sports and athletes in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.

In conclusion, H.E Major General Al Rumaithi expressed his hope for the tournament would achieve distinguished technical performance and reflect the significant attention dedicated by GCC countries to improve and promote football. He also said that there are strong indicators of expected organizational, public and media success in the tournament; and praised the Saudi and Gulf audiences, who are keen to attend the matches and support their national teams and encourage fair play.
