Making its debut in Dubai at the World’s Biggest Annual Food & Hospitality Show - Gulfood from 8th to 12th February 2015. An exclusive launch event is being hosted at Sheraton Deira Hotel, Dubai on 10th February 2015, to introduce Kaohsiung’s best quality produce to Dubai’s distributors and consumers.

To promote the “Best of Kaohsiung” the event is attended by Ms. Shyh-Fang Liu, the former deputy mayor of Kaohsiung, and currently the chief counselor of Kaohsiung City Hall and leading government officials including Mr. Fu-Chin Tsai, the Director General of the Agriculture Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government among others.

Mr. Tsai from the Agriculture Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government said, “We are excited to be attending and participating at the Gulfood exhibition. The “Best of Kaohsiung” produce which we bring to Dubai should get an interesting response with our range of produce quietly rarely seen in Dubai.”

Dried jujube from Kaohsiung is made without using any artificial preservative; instead farmers use natural preservatives like honey and store in room temperature, encouraging the concept of healthy living.

Alongside the Taiwanese Apples (Jujube), Guava, Orange cherry tomato, Wax Apple, dried jujube and dried longan, one of the unique products that Kaohsiung will highlight during their participation at Gulf Food is the heart shaped Anthurium, an Asian symbol of happiness and hospitality.

What makes the produce and Kaohsiung City so unique is its 47,083 hectares of cultivation land which is almost 16% of the total land area of Taiwan. Along with the land, the efforts is further enriched by the Gaoping River running through Kaohsiung providing rich water recourses for the fruits to grow well ensuring the finest quality of Kaohsiung produce.

The Agriculture Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government created the brand “Best of Kaohsiung” a few years ago and expanded the markets in Southeast Asia, Japan, Canada and Germany and was well received by those countries giving Kaohsiung a nickname of “Asian Hawaii”.

Taiwan’s ongoing initiative to strengthen the country’s ties, is further solidified by its participation and attendance in Gulfood 2015. The country’s effort to encourage trade connection with the Middle East creates opportunities for both the UAE and Taiwan in establishing great shared ventures.
