(BUSINESS WIRE) -- Jam City:

Who: Jam City, a Los Angeles-based mobile games studio, in partnership with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s Portkey Games, a label dedicated to creating new Wizarding World mobile and videogame experiences that place the player at the center of their own adventure, inspired by J.K. Rowling’s original stories.

What: In the hit mobile game, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, players have their first opportunity to create a character and attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In celebration of Christmas in the Wizarding World, each House’s common room at Hogwarts will feature its own Christmas tree adorned in its respective House colors: red for Gryffindor, green for Slytherin, blue for Ravenclaw and yellow for Hufflepuff.

Beginning today, players are invited to join in the holiday decorating at Hogwarts by casting a vote on their favorite tree ornament. From December 6 through 12, fans can visit the Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to view and vote on a selection of holiday ornaments. The most popular selection will be featured on each of the House Christmas trees unveiled in-game on December 13.

Bringing the excitement of Christmas at Hogwarts to the Muggle world, a video will be released on the Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery social channels in tandem with the in-game tree reveal, spotlighting all of the holiday decor and theming in-game this December. The video will also tease a time-limited sidequest featuring the Wizarding World’s beloved clan, the Weasleys. Taking a cue from the family’s history with handmade gifts, the video will also give fans do-it-yourself instructions to create a real-world replica of the winning tree ornament featured in this festive, in-game activity.

Quote: “Players of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery are highly engaged in not only the secrets, spell-casting and classes of Hogwarts, but also its rituals and celebrations,” said Josh Yguado, Jam City President and COO. “The winter holidays are a special time at Hogwarts, and we invite players to join us in bringing the cheer and trimmings of the season to the legendary school. We’re excited to celebrate the holidays with fans, and look forward to the many adventures ahead!”

Background: Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is the first mobile game where players can create their own character and experience life as a Hogwarts student. In the narrative adventure with RPG elements, players will create a personalized student avatar, attend classes, learn magical skills, and form friendships or rivalries with other students. In the game, players make pivotal decisions that influence their character’s story arc at Hogwarts. The game features a new encounter system where player decisions and actions impact their quests, allowing Harry Potter fans to create their own legacy as a witch or wizard.
