One of Europe’s Largest Ambulance Services to Deploy LIFEPAK 15 and LIFEPAK 1000 System Wide across Southern Germany
(EON: Enhanced Online News)-- Germany’s Rettungsdienst Bayern has announced that it will equip its emergency response fleets with monitor/defibrillators from Physio-Control. The ambulance service is one of the largest in Western Europe, and makes more than 3,000 emergency calls per day, on average, supplying approximately 80 percent of ambulance services throughout Bavaria. The organization will purchase up to 450 Physio-Control LIFEPAK 15 and 150 LIFEPAK 1000 devices to supply its operational divisions. The selection was the result of a competitive procurement process managed by the Bavarian Red Cross on behalf of the Rettungsdienst Bayern.
“Equipping more than 90% of our emergency service teams in Bavaria with LIFEPAK devices is an important step for us to provide the best possible patient care in the future. The high performance, reliability and robustness of LIFEPAK devices related to overall cost led us to choose Physio-Control,” said Johann-Peter Hausl, head of EMS at the Bavarian Red Cross.
With this selection, Physio-Control expands its market presence in Germany. Physio-Control devices purchased by the Rettungsdienst Bayern will now be used at all local Bavarian emergency services: the Bavarian Red Cross, Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe, Malteser Hilfsdienst, Arbeiter Samariter Bund and city of Munich fire brigade, as well as private ambulance services across the German state of Bavaria.
The organization’s large-scale central procurement tender process allows for standardized implementation of devices and training throughout the emergency services in the coming months. The LIFEPAK 15 monitor/defibrillator’s integrated 12-lead ECG transmission option allows devices to connect to the state wide telemedicine system using the Physio-Control LIFENET® System already in use in a large percentage of clinics across Bavaria. With LIFENET, EMS services are able to transmit the electrocardiogram of a patient with a suspected myocardial infarction to the appropriate hospital in advance. Hospitals are then able to mobilize hospital care teams and to prepare necessary treatments before the patient arrives.
“It is an honor to serve as technical partner to the Rettungsdienst Bayern for their advanced life support and basic life support solutions and devices,” said Mathieu Badard, Vice President & General Manager EMEA, Physio-Control. “The procurement process was rigorous and involved important competitive decision criteria including technical specifications, total investment and life-cycle costs, patient safety, service and reliability.”
