Comprehensive Interoperability Achieved at ERDF WS3 Plugfest
SAN JOSE, Calif - Tuesday, September 16th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
(BUSINESS WIRE) -- EnVerv Inc., a leader in Powerline and Wireless Communications System-on-Chip (SoC) Modems for Smart Grid applications today announced that the EV8000 Powerline Communications SoC platform has successfully completed interoperability testing at the G3-PLC Plug-fest held at ERDF Labs in August. The tests covered interoperability testing with other vendors in all three bands of CEENELEC A, FCC and ARIB in a well-integrated single chip SOC. These tests covered PHY, MAC and the 6LoWPAN Network layer. The EV8000 product family supports all mandatory and optional modes of the G3-PLC specification.
"We are pleased to achieve full G3-PLC interoperability of our EV8000 Modem,” said Dr. Farrokh Farrokhi, Vice President of Engineering at EnVerv. "By providing a fully programmable solution, we demonstrated our ability to interoperate in all of the frequency bands supported by the G3-PLC specification, while servicing all the standard and optional modes of G3-PLC. Completing this round of Interoperability tests gives our customers further confidence that their EnVerv based products can be deployed in any G3-PLC network worldwide.”
The EV8000 is a single-chip PLC SoC with programmable frequency bands, covering CENELEC-A, FCC and ARIB bands without the need for hardware changes. Furthermore, the EV8000 soft-modem can be programmed to operate in ITU-T G.9903 (G3-PLC), ITU-T G.9904 (PRIME), IEEE P1901.2 and IEC-61334 (S-FSK) modes simply by downloading their respective firmware code to the chip remotely over the power line network.
About EnVerv, Inc.
EnVerv is a fabless semiconductor company in the United States with headquarters in Milpitas, California and SoC solutions enabling robust and high-speed communications over Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) power lines and are applicable to various grid connectivity markets such as AMI, solar micro-inverters, transformer monitoring, substation communications, lighting networks, etc. Visit www.enverv.com
G3-PLC
G3-PLC is a protocol for Narrow Band Low frequency Power Line communications. G3-PLC facilitates high-speed, highly-reliable, long-range communication over the existing powerline grid. With the ability to cross transformers, infrastructure costs are reduced and with its support of IPv6, G3-PLC will support powerline communications into the future.
