The Ministry of Interior recently participated in the seventh edition of the International Scientific Conference of the Dubai Police Academy. The ministry submitted a work paper regarding the role of national service in the personal development of the recruit by improving their knowledge and unique skills, and subsequently enhancing the status of the UAE in regional and international arenas.

In a statement made during the conference, Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, stressed the importance of Federal Law No. 6 of 2014, regarding the national and reserve service. “This decree echoes the provisions of Article 43 of the UAE Constitution, which stipulates that ‘Defense of the Union is a sacred duty of every citizen, and military service is an honor for citizens of which shall be regulated by law’,” said Major General Al Nuaimi.

Adding further, he emphasized that “the laws that establish and instill loyalty, belonging, and sacrifice amongst the sons of our homeland are connected to the principles and values of our religion. They are also intended to promote the concept of good citizenship; increase cohesion and solidarity within the society of the UAE; strengthen security capabilities to respond to crises and disasters; enhance security awareness among the citizens; protect them from the risk of being misled by misconceptions and false beliefs; and to increase harmony amongst members of the community and develop their abilities to work as a team.”
