The E-Services and Smart Applications Technical Team at the Ministry of Interior organized an introductory workshop about the Smart Applications provided by the ministry in the traffic and licensing services at the countrywide level.
Colonel Barakat Al Kendi, Chief of the Systems Development Section at the Ministry of Interior and Chairman of the Ministry of Interior’s E-transformation Higher Committee, took part in the workshop that was held at the Police Officers Club in Abu Dhabi, alongside First Lieutenant Mohammed Darwish Al Balouki, Head of the Technical Team in charge of developing the Ministry of Interior’s smart applications; and a number of officers and non-commissioned officers from the Traffic and Patrols Departments across the country.
Colonel Al Kendi explained that the workshop aims at acquainting police staff members with the e-transformation process involving the array of services provided by the Ministry of Interior. It also aims at acquainting staff members with the proper mechanisms to use the electronic vehicle registration and electronic driving license that was recently launched by the ministry via its smart applications platform UAE MOI. This embodies the federal government’s vision to adopt the smart government concepts, thus positioning the UAE as the first country in the world to provide smart government services via smart phones. He also noted that the ministry has successfully managed to market these services to the public.
In conclusion, Colonel Al Kendi expressed hope that the workshop achieves the desired goals, notably with respect to issuance of the electronic vehicle registration cards and the electronic driving license via smartphone Applications across the traffic and licensing departments in the UAE country and the different sectors of the Ministry of Interior.
First Lieutenant Mohammed Darwish Al Balouki, Head of the Technical Team in charge of developing the Ministry of Interior’s smart applications, gave an overview of the ministry’s smart applications, and the existing procedures undertaken to process transactions. He also shed the light on the Ministry of Interior’s smart and revamped services via UAE MOI, and the electronic systems and services. Moreover, First Lieutenant Al Balouki tackled the negative aspects of the traditional manual processing, which include wasting money and time, lack of accuracy in processing transactions, loss and damage of paperwork, and lack of performance indicators. He referred to the services that are currently being offered through smart phones, and the services in the works that are scheduled to be launched according to federal government standards.
