Dubai shines on the 2015 SWS Grand Finals winner’s podium for the 2nd year in a row

Dubai Kartdrome based CG Racing follow up on their 2014 runners-up victory with another top podium placement

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, June 16th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

Reflecting on Dubai and the Dubai Kartdrome rise to the top of the global endurance karting scene, Choueiri Group’s CG Racing teams once again placed in a spectacular winning performance at the 2015 SWS Endurance Grand Finals in France, held over June 4-6, at the prestigious Racing Kart de Cormeilles track venue near Paris, where CG Racing Pro won the coveted 3rd place standing.

The top-notch Dubai Kartdrome based racers entered this year’s 12 hour’s finale with 2 teams (CG Racing Pro and CG Racing 1), respectively targeting both #1 and #2 place wins. This year marked CG Racing’s 3rd qualification into the SWS Grand Finals and their second consecutive year receiving top podium honors. It follows their marginal near miss (by 3.146 seconds) of the podium’s topmost position last year (2014), which earned them their Vice World Champions title.

With a pre-race thunderstorm adding to the drama and challenge, CG Racing Pro (David Terrien, Rami Azzam and Piers Pakenham Walsh) managed to power ahead of the majority of the world-class competition on the track and remained determined throughout the visibly tough contest between the top endurance karting teams from around the globe.

Right from the start, as soon as the green lights went off at the stroke of midnight on Friday, CG Racing Pro remained at the sharp end of proceedings, up until a huge final stint effort by team captain David Terrien enabled the team to overtake Batelco and snatch third place in the final half hour of the race. Notably, CG Racing Pro shared its final lap with the winners of the championship - The Italian outfit Pastino Veneto Corse.

Meanwhile, sister team CG Racing 1 (Oliver Saade, Salem Salem, Maged Traboulsi and Patrick Katrib) which has amassed an enviable track record as repeat corporate category champions at the Dubai Kartdrome and most recently as Overall winners as well, finished 21st out of the forty teams that took to the start of this race.

The forty teams selected to compete at this year’s Grand Finals stand distinguished for being the absolute best of the best. The 280 drivers who entered this year, qualified from among the 30,000 participants in the SWS worldwide. The finalists represented no less than 26 countries from 38 SWS championships and five continents…which constitutes a record.

Following CG Racing’s podium celebrations, CG Racing Team Principal Pierre Choueiri stated that “Third place is a fantastic achievement for our team. This year the standard of the field was the highest it has ever been at the SWS Grand Finals, so for us we are happy and I am very proud of the teams.”

The 2015 SWS Grand Finals in Paris marked the culmination of the world-wide contest that ran throughout the 2014 season, with the top teams from the 15 participating nations qualifying for the honor of racing at the annual event.
