The Medical Services Department at Abu Dhabi Police will be organizing a comprehensive awareness campaign about lung cancer and asthma that will kick off tomorrow, Sunday. The campaign aims to shed the light on causes and symptoms of these diseases and prevention methods, and falls in line with the awareness program on the early detection of chronic diseases and cancer.
Colonel Jassem Al Tunaiji, Head of the Medical Services Department at Abu Dhabi Police, said that the campaign reflects the MoI’s strategy and initiatives that aim to provide excellent medical services and support the UAE efforts to improve the medical sector. It also embodies the MoI’s commitment to spread medical awareness in order to enhance healthcare services.
Colonel Al Tunaiji explained that the campaign will be implemented at all police departments across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It will include awareness lectures, distribution of brochures with extensive information the causes of the disease and prevention methods, as well as other various activities to acquaint staff members with these diseases and allow them to avoid their causes by highlighting the importance of regular medical check-ups.
Furthermore, he emphasized that providing medical awareness contributes to enhancing health education across the country and to reinforcing relations with society by raising people’s awareness in various fields. He also stressed on the Abu Dhabi Police’s commitment to take part in various medical events such as colon and breast cancer awareness; in conjunction with the international introductory and prevention campaigns in this regard.
For his part, Captain Dr. Ali Omar Al Menhali, Health Education Branch Manager at the Medical Services Department of Abu Dhabi Police, stressed on the need for individuals to adopt appropriate prevention methods to avoid lung cancer in order to maintain their safety. He also noted that this important issue is given significant attention at the various initiatives, in order to raise people’s awareness about the risks of lung cancer.
Captain Dr. Al Menhali also noted that the activities will target all society segments via intensive health awareness campaigns regarding a number of negative habits that causes chronic diseases such as smoking. This aims to create healthy smoking-free environment, because smoking is a major cause of deadly health problems and dangerous diseases.
The activities will include lectures about prevention methods and early detection, and introduction to the causes of these diseases. The activities will kick off at the Ministry of Interior’s Headquarters on Sunday, November 15th; and at the Medical Services and Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Departments on Monday. On Tuesday, the activities will be carried out at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters and the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs. Wednesday will be dedicated for Bawabat Al Sharq Mall and the Criminal Investigations Department. The activities will conclude on Thursday, November 19th at the Ministry of Energy and Abu Dhabi Municipality (morning shift).
