The Ministry of Interior launched on Tuesday the ‘Innovation Diploma’ program, in cooperation with the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), during a celebration that was held at Abu Dhabi Police Departments Complex.
Brigadier Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, said that launching the diploma program comes in response to the higher leadership’s directives to encourage innovation and spread the culture of innovation in society. He also noted that the Ministry of Interior has been a pioneer in adopting a methodology to motivate creativity, excellence and innovation amongst staff members in order to improve police and security work.
Brigadier Al Dhaheri also noted that the diploma program spans over 9 weeks, during which students affiliated to the Ministry of Interior will take part in theoretical and practical lectures that focus on innovation, innovation methods, and ways to create educational and training programs. He explained that 100 MoI staff members applied for the program and were enrolled in the different Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah within the diploma lectures program.
Brigadier Al Dhaheri added that the Innovation Diploma will play a major role in qualifying graduates to become lecturers in the field of innovation in the future, which would spread and promote the concept of innovation based on advanced scientific criteria.
The Director General of Strategy and Performance Development expressed his thanks to the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) for cooperating with the ministry to implement the program. He also called upon staff members to benefit from scientific material provided by the prestigious experts and lecturers, and to encourage their colleagues to be creative and innovative according to solid scientific foundations.
For his part, Dr. Adel Al Ameri, Deputy Director of the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) for Strategy and Communication, praised the Ministry of Interior’s efforts to encourage innovation and its cooperation in the implementation of the diploma. He wished students the best of luck and success in their endeavors to become the pillar of future innovation and creativity processes at the Ministry of Interior.
As a part of the ceremony, the Ministry of Interior launched the ‘Innovation Lab’. The innovation lab aims at developing innovative solutions to the different challenges facing the UAE society that are closely related to the ministry’s tasks. It also provides community members with the opportunity to submit their suggestions and ideas, in order to be discussed later in search of innovative, practical and pragmatic solutions.
The ‘Innovation Lab’ focused on the appropriate ways to increase customers’ satisfaction with police services, on par with the best international levels. Participants were divided into four groups to discuss four major topics, notably the services delivery channels; services information; service delivery employees and services completion procedures. Each group was assigned to discuss one specific topic, aimed at increasing customers’ satisfaction in each respective topic, in order to reach the optimal applicable suggestions.
The ‘Innovation Lab’ event was attended by a significant number of Ministry of Interior’s staff members and service providers, in addition to a number of customers.
