ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Friday, November 6th 2015 [ME NewsWire]
Representatives from different police departments convened with officials from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council to discuss and establish aspects of cooperation to ensure the success of the program and events to be organized on the National Sports Day, which is due to take place on November 25. His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, had recently declared November 25 as the ‘National Sports Day’ with the underlying theme of ‘UAE Unites Us.’ The meeting took place at the auditorium of the Sports Activity Section, affiliated to the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development in the Ministry of Interior.
Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General, asserted the police leadership’s support to the Abu Dhabi Sports Council’s activities, which fall in line with the community partnership. He also underlined the importance of physical activity and sports in developing the skills of police members; in a way that positively impacts their mental and intellectual activity.
Colonel Waleed Al Shamesi, Head of Police Schools Department, called upon Abu Dhabi Police to provide efficient ideas and observations that would contribute to the success of the event, and provide the highest levels of security and service. He called upon everyone to participate in the activities and programs of the National Sports Day. “This day will mark a different kind of sporting event, which goes beyond competition and prizes. The different recreational, educational and competitive activities will help in reflecting the cohesion and unity between all citizens and residents living in the UAE, who share love and loyalty for this good land,” he said.
For his part, Talal Al Hashemi, Technical Affairs Director at Abu Dhabi Sports Council, revealed that, following the leadership’s directives, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council has announced a set of activities and events to mark the inaugural National Sports day, which is due to take place on November 25. He said: “Each emirate is set to organize a set of sporting events on that day, with 17 sports events and competitions held in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region. The event will involve the participation of all age groups, be it young or old, men and women and people with special needs,” he said.
Attendees discussed past success experiences of similar public events, with the aim of maintaining participants’ security and safety, ensuring a smooth traffic flow, and safeguard private and public property.
