The all-new Montero Sport SUV was unveiled by Alesayi Motors, the exclusive agent and distributor for Mitsubishi vehicles in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Commenting on the occasion, Bandar Saeed Alesayi, Deputy Managing Director of Alesayi Motors said: “The all-new Montero Sport offers a new concept of luxury in 4 wheel-drive (4WD) vehicles through design that combines the boldly sculptured aerodynamic body, elegantly decorated with over 100 refinements and improvements to even the smallest of details.”

“The vehicle is equipped with a high performance MIVEC 3.0 Liter engine with an 8-speed transmission, which is the first of its kind in Mitsubishi and gives a smooth, environmentally-friendly and more luxurious drive, as well as fuel efficiency.” He added: “The comfort of driving is further improved by the cruise control and Steering Wheel Paddle Shifters, allowing the driver to shift gears through the steering wheel.”

He further explained that the Montero Sport includes full active and passive, comprehensive safety features. Designed by Mitsubishi, the RISE body design is a light body with high rigidity, equipped with multiple high-tensile steel plates, providing a high level of safety in case of collision, as well as 7-SRS airbags, providing further safety to the driver and passengers.

The active safety features include the Forward Collision Mitigation (FMC) radar system and the Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS) to sense other vehicles at close proximity from the Montero Sport (the first of its kind in a Mitsubishi model). In addition, the all new Montero Sport includes the ultrasonic Blind Spot Warning (BSW) system, enabling the driver to detect vehicles coming from the blind spot zone, along with many advanced specifications that greatly exceed those available in this class of vehicle, such as the first Electric Park Brakes (EPB) on Mitsubishi models.

The vehicle can be ordered with four special optional specifications from the factory, namely: 1- Around View Monitoring (AVM) system; 2- navigation system (NAVI); 3- rain speed sensors; 4- brightness sensor. It also has a fully-automated climate control system, allowing the driver and front seat passenger to set different temperatures, with cooling units for passengers in the second and third rows of seats.

The all-new Montero Sport boasts an improved version of Mitsubishi’s 4WD system, complementing the Off-road Mode (for the first time in a Mitsubishi model), providing the best performance in all terrains and ensuring vehicle stability regardless of the road surface and providing unprecedented comfort in its category, in addition to its Hill Descent Control system (HDC). Switching to HDC mode, the brakes are automatically activated to maintain a down-hill speed of 2-20 km/h, allowing the driver to focus on driving and descending safely, without the need for manual brake control. The vehicle gives a precise and stable drive, both on and off-road, in all weather and driving conditions, thanks to the 2WD, 4WD and off-road driving modes, as well as smart assistance in difficult conditions and a state-of-the-art  Braking system.

By selecting Drive Mode, the driver can switch between 2WD Mode (2H) for regular roads and slippery curves, and 4WD (4H) for off-road and dangerous situations, with the feature of switching between the two modes anywhere up to 100 km/h, called Super Select 4WD-II (SS4-II). For rougher roads, the driver can activate the Central Differential Lock with the 4HLc setting for rugged terrain and slippery roads, or the 4LLc setting for slopes, rocky roads, mud, sand and flooded areas up to 700 mm of depth. Furthermore, the Balance Control and Traction Control features independently regulate the braking power on the wheels while turning or taking corners, to help maintain the vehicle stability when it is needed. They also optimize the vehicle’s traction, thereby preventing any loss of torque by controlling the engine output and the breaks applied to the wheels.

In addition to its maneuvering capabilities, Montero Sport has a 5.6 m turning radius, which is the best in its category, making it particularly easy to drive and park.

The vehicle’s sound system is easy to control through a 6.1” QVGA touch screen display, which also displays images from the vehicle’s rear camera.

As for the exterior of the car, the advanced LED front lights and daytime running lights give the vehicle an elegant and sophisticated look and help to give the car a real charisma, while the dynamic taillights boldly proclaim that this is no ordinary SUV.

The vehicle is available with two or three rows of seats, depending on the GLS or GLX models, in line with the specifications for each model.
