Under the patronage of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the international Civil Defense and Modern Media Conference will kick off on Tuesday at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Abu Dhabi. The conference is organized by the Directorate General of Civil Defense at the Ministry of Interior (MoI), on the sidelines of the World Civil Defense Day.
Major General Jassem Muhammad Al Marzouqui, Civil Defense General Commander-in-chief at the MoI, said that the conference will address the basic role of civil defense and civil protection organizations in handling catastrophes and their outcomes, and the importance of different types of media in spreading a culture of prevention among society members. “The conference is an opportunity to revitalize and renew educational campaigns and preventive instructions about fires and other risks,” he added.
The conference will host elite experts in the field of civil defense from the US, England and Germany, and media figures and academics from different visual and written media. They will discuss specialized work papers pertaining to the field of civil defense and the media’s role in spreading a culture of prevention towards fire and disaster risks.
