Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, over 300 urologists and healthcare professionals from more than 15 countries gathered for the Emirates Forum of Urology (EFU) at Hyatt Regency Dubai Creek Heights, UAE. The forum proved to be a platform to discuss how new technological trends and new surgery techniques are important in transforming peoples’ lives and how it is shaping up in the United Arab Emirates.
EFU is organised in collaboration with EAU section of Uro-Technology (ESUT) & EAU Section of Oncological Urology (ESOU) and featured the Emirates Robotic & Uro-Technology Summit. With the support of regional and international healthcare organizations, EFU 2016 hosted urologists, uro-oncologists, robotic surgeons, endourologists, nurses and academics from the region and beyond.
Dr Abdul Qader Al Zarouni, Senior Consultant and Head of Urology Department at Sheikh Khalifa General Hospital (SKGH) in Umm Alquwain said that the hospital brought the first robot device for the first time in the Middle East, to conduct tract operations, pointing out that the device is the third device in the world that is used in the urinary tract surgery. He added that EFU is a unique platform for medical professionals to exchange innovative ways, expertise and advances in the field of Endourology to overcome its challenges.
The two-day forum featured main conference, workshops and session on women’s health which was presented by more than 60 experts. There was also a live surgery transmission from SKGH Umm Alquwain displayed for full day using the highest technology in the field of urology.
