He then took them to their place of residence in Barakah. The second, third, and fourth suspects confessed to easily entering and robbing the victim’s house of its contents in possession of a white weapon ‘knife’, and one of them wore a face mask. According to their confessions, they handed over the stolen goods to the first suspect in their place of residence.”
“The fifth and sixth suspects declared that they entered the victim's home after their partners managed to chain her, the seventh suspect guided the other gang members to reach the victim’s house. The group accused of forced robbery consists of seven persons of Asian nationality who have formed a gang. Security Media Upgrades its Drones to Full HD Technology
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Saturday, October 25th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
The Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of His Highness Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, upgraded the technical specifications of its remote-controlled flying drones, which were put to use in 2010, as now they are able to capture Full HD footage for media coverage.
According to Major Jamal Al Hosani, Chief of Technical Affairs Section at the Security Media and Technical Affairs Department, the project, which is being developed by local experts, aims to showcase the strategic role of the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, and provide other logistic services, mainly lowering the risks that may face police officers and media professionals on accident sites. This will also help develop policing systems and methods for handling emergencies, to promote security and safety earnings using modern and innovative methods, to elevate the police work system and its new concepts, in accordance with the vision of the UAE government.
Major Al Hosani said, “The Technical Affairs Department has introduced new technical specifications for its fleet of 7 unmanned drones, to include capturing footage of hard-to-reach areas such as traffic accidents, fires, and major events using Full HD video technology, which provides a resolution that is substantially higher than that of the previously used Standard Definition (SD). The drones are equipped with dual day / night cameras to capture the most accurate details, as well as a zooming feature for filming footage from a very far distance.”
He also noted that the newly updated drones provide leaders with a unique airborne perspective of the incident via live streaming, through special applications available for the Security Media field patrols; they transmit the captured footage directly to the Central Operations’ Room, and allow officials to follow up on the unfolding of the events with a view to take the proper decisions.
The remote-controlled flying drones provide media support for the Security Media field patrols, which were recently launched to cover the events that take place on the roads of Abu Dhabi around the clock. They transmit footage simultaneously to maximize the media coverage.
The service provided by both the drones and the Security Media patrols contribute to developing the Ministry of Interior’s media work. It also ensures documentation of security events, provides help to media workers, and supports media coverage of police events with more comprehensive, faster and higher quality footage. It has a storage capacity to save photographs and videos that can be easily retrieved when needed.
Speaking about the crew that operates the remote-controlled unmanned drone, the project director said, “The crew that operates the drone is made up of qualified national cadres (An operator and a controller per drone) to handle accidents at sites that may pose a risk to civilians, making it possible to obtain accurate and detailed footage of the events”. Major Al Hosani enumerated the general specifications of the drone. “The drone is a small unpiloted aerial vehicle remotely and easily controlled and stable during flight. Using the on-board camera, the drone captures footage and still photographs of various events from all angles with High-definition television (HDTV) resolution technology. It can also receive images and zooms in on them through a special monitor designed for media tasks,” he added. Adding further, Major Al Hosani noted that drone has been equipped for take-off and flight. “Upon receiving notification from the Central Operations Room, the operator dispatches the drone towards the incident site. Prior to that, the controller contacts the competent authorities to obtain necessary approvals to fly the drone and cover events on the ground or in high areas as they unfold,” Major Al Hosani explained.
The head of the Technical Affairs Department stressed the pivotal role of the Security Media drone, which sheds light on the humanitarian and social aspects of police work, through an integrated technical perspective. “This reflects the Ministry of Interior’s commitment to promote the standards of openness and transparency of the media message. It also embodies the ministry’s firm belief in the right of media outlets and the public to be informed to ensure everyone's safety,” underlined Major Al Hosani.
Furthermore, he added, “The project comes in response to the directives of the police leadership, and reflects their keen interest to ensure public safety and transparency as one of the top priorities of the police’s media work. The police leadership is also keen to leverage modern devices and technologies to enhance the competencies of police personnel working in this field, in a bid to achieve the coveted goals through various modern and innovative methods. It also aims to upgrade policing work methods and its new concepts, which is not only limited to keeping up with events, but to be at the heart of events”.

Hitachi Zosen Received the World's First Time Approval about SCR System for Marine Engines from MAN Diesel & Turbo
OSAKA, Japan. - Tuesday, October 28th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
(BUSINESS WIRE) Hitachi Zosen Corporation (TOKYO:7004) has become the world’s first firm to receive first-time approval (FTA) for a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system for marine engines from its licensor MAN Diesel & Turbo SE (Germany; MAN)in the field of the design and manufacturing of marine diesel engines.
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) proposed the standards on the reduction of nitrogen oxide (NOx) and sulfur oxide (SOx) emissions during maritime transportation. In April 2014 The IMO Marine Environment Protection Committee adopted stringent Tier III controls which require an 80% reduction of NOx emissions from Tier I (17.0 g/kWh) to be effective within emission control areas (ECA) from 2016.
Hitachi Zosen in partnership with MAN, its licensor boasting a more than 80% global share in the marine diesel engine market, embarked to develop a SCR system for marine engines using Hitachi Zosen’s proprietary NOx removal catalyst and system into test engine in 2009. In 2011 the SCR system was certified by NK (Japan Maritime Association) ahead of the competition and fitted in a new vessel for in-service testing ongoing for three years from November 2011. The greatest benefit of the system is that it uses highly-pressure exhaust gas upstream of the turbocharger, which is high in density and requires only a low-capacity catalyst, for a compact design less than half the size of conventional systems.
The FTA from MAN verified that Hitachi Zosen’s SCR system for marine engines is fully compliant with Tier III standards. Hitachi Zosen is globally the only marine diesel engine supplier to receive official approval from MAN. Tier III NOx standards are applicable to new ships constructed on or after January 1, 2016. Since it takes at least one year to design a new ship, the demand of new shipbuilding with SCR is rising significantly for NOx reduction systems.
Hitachi Zosen commenced full-scale marketing of SCR systems for marine engines in this year. It plans to build on the FTA and collaborate further with MAN to carry out aggressive order intake activities worldwide.

He continued by saying that the comprehensive program covers security, health, and social and cultural issues that relate to the student. It is essential that the proposal is diverse, and invested in and optimized through the best techniques, capabilities, and modern technological means.
Major General Al Mazina added, “During the pre-launch period, the program achieved many accomplishments that include the preparation of a scientific and methodological document for the program with educational and behavioral goals that serve as a reference for scientific materials for the program. Panasonic to Commence Licensing Unified IP Core for HD-PLC
OSAKA, Japan - Wednesday, October 29th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Panasonic Corporation today announced that from January 2015 it will commence licensing of the unified IP (intellectual property) core involving the provided digital circuit IP and analog circuit IP1, which is an indispensable component of one-chip system LSI for high-speed power line communication (HD-PLC)2.
HD-PLC uses power lines in the home not only for power transmission but also for communication, just like LAN cables. It allows users to enjoy stable wired network communication by simply plugging in HD-PLC equipment without the need to install a new LAN cable.
System LSI generally consists of a number of functional circuit blocks and the information of the circuit block is called “IP.” HD-PLC uses power lines for digital communication, and requires analog circuit IP for power control and digital circuit IP for digital communication.
Regarding the digital circuit IP, Panasonic has licensed “HD-PLC Complete,” which supports the LAN communication standard IEEE 19013, since 2010, and “HD-PLC Inside,” which supports serial I/O interface, since 2013.
As a result, system LSIs for digital circuits and system LSIs for analog circuits are required separately. The licensing of the new unified IP core will accelerate the development of single chip system LSI for HD-PLC.
Compared with conventional system LSIs, single chip system LSI for HD-PLC enables downsizing, weight-saving and energy-saving, and therefore can be used in a wider variety of products. This will make it possible to connect a greater range of HD-PLC equipped product on a network, perform operations linking and coordinating these products, and provide more advanced services.
Panasonic will aim at licensing unified IP core for industrial equipment in response to demands for longer distance communications and connections between increasing numbers of equipment for wider business solutions.
Notes:
1.
Intellectual property core, or IP core, refers to circuit information from functional circuits on a system LSI.
2.
HD-PLC: The name of a high-speed power line communication system proposed by Panasonic Corporation. HD-PLC is a trademark or registered trademark in Japan and other countries
3.
IEEE 1901: A communication standard standardized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)

Japan IT Week Autumn 2014 Opening Today with 430 Exhibitors and 32,000 Professional Visitors Expected
ME NewsWire/Business Wire
TOKYO - Tuesday, October 28th 2014
Japan IT Week Autumn 2014
Reed Exhibitions Japan will be opening the doors to the 2014 edition of Japan IT Week Autumn today until October 31 at MAKUHARI MESSE, Japan. http://www.japan-it.jp/en/aki/
Japan IT Week Autumn is the autumn edition of Japan IT Week Spring http://www.japan-it.jp/en/, known as Japan’s largest show for IT and the world’s largest for software and apps. The show will be composed of 7 independent exhibitions gathering the latest IT technologies and solutions from Japan, Asia and the world: 5th Cloud Computing Expo Japan (CLOUD JAPAN Autumn), 4th Web & Mobile Marketing Expo (Web-Mo Autumn), 3rd Data Center Expo (DATA CENTER Autumn), 4th Information Security Expo (IST Autumn), 4th Smartphone & Mobile Expo (SMARTPHONE Autumn), 3rd Big Data Management Expo (BIG DATA Autumn) (former: Big Data & Data Management Expo) and 2nd Direct Commerce Solutions Expo (DIREX Autumn).
Great business hub for IT professionals
Overall, 430 exhibitors and 32,000* professional visitors will be participating at this year’s show which are both record breaking figures since the launch 5 years ago (*expected). In terms of exhibitor number, 110 more firms will be exhibiting and the overall show size will also be expanding by 40%. The visitor number is also expected to increase and this will be a 24% rise from the previous edition.
Japan IT Week Autumn has grown to become one of the largest comprehensive B-to-B IT shows in Japan held in the second half of the year in just 5 years. The major factor behind the expansion is thought to be the show dates. Before the launch of the autumn edition, Japan IT Week was only held once a year in spring but as budget for Japanese firms generally start in autumn, the time to seal deals for new investments can be more favourable in the second half of the year. Thus by holding an autumn edition had led to flexibility for the professionals to negotiate business leading to a higher level of satisfaction. Evidently, many of the exhibitors at the previous show were able to close many deals and some were able to make sales worth 10 and 100 millions of Japanese Yen. This year’s edition will be no exception and is sure to serve as a great platform to discuss new business for the coming year.
Impressive line-up of exhibits and conference sessions
The environment to conduct business is certainly a big contributor to make good business during the show but the line-up of exhibiting firms are also expected to boost the popularity of show this year. Major exhibitors such as NTT COMMUNICATIONS, SONY, PANASONIC, SOFTBANK, KDDI, CISCO SYSTEMS, BOX, FIREEYE, F5 NETWORKS JAPAN, JAPAN POST, SAGAWA EXPRESS, YAMATO GLOBAL EXPRESS etc. will be participating.
Also, new pavilions will be launched this year. Australia and Poland will be exhibiting as national pavilions for the first time gathering numerous technologies and solutions unique to their country, for instance, new cloud technologies and smart phone applications will be showcased. The Australia pavilion will be gathering 16 firms within the pavilion and 10 firms in the Poland pavilion. Many of the firms are exhibiting for the first time at an IT exhibition in Japan so visitors will be able to find technologies and services yet to be launched into Japan at these pavilions.

Acrow Addresses Role of Private Enterprise in Building Africa’s Infrastructure at U.S.-Africa Infrastructure Conference
Sees Multiple Opportunities for U.S. Businesses to Participate in Africa’s Rapid Urbanization and Growing Middle Class
PARSIPPANY, N.J - Tuesday, October 28th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Acrow Bridge, a leading international bridge engineering and supply company, shared its success stories and insights in partnering with African governments and private sector entities to support infrastructure development at the opening plenary session of the 2014 U.S.-Africa Infrastructure Conference in Washington, D.C. Hosted by The Corporate Council on Africa, the three-day event brought together international infrastructure experts, U.S. and African government officials and key public and private sector decision-makers to focus on building resilient cities in Africa.
“The time to invest in Africa is now,” said Paul Sullivan, Acrow’s Director of International Business Development, who was one of the plenary speakers. “European and Asian companies benefit from a significant presence in Africa, and U.S. business as a whole needs to step up or lose out on tremendous opportunities to do business in one of the world’s fastest-growing and dynamic economies.”
Sullivan also pointed out the need for Africa to invest more than $100 billion annually on infrastructure, according to McKinsey Global Institute estimates. “African leaders recognize that developing the region’s physical infrastructure is vital to continued economic growth and prosperity, enabling trade within and between African countries while helping address the challenges of rapid urbanization and meeting the needs of a thriving middle class,” Sullivan said. “They also see the most effective way to accomplish these goals is through long-term collaboration with private enterprise.”
“I fear that lingering misperceptions of Africa are clouding the outsider’s understanding of the opportunities for doing business on the continent,” Sullivan added. “In fact, the rate of progress across the region is clearly visible to anyone who has spent time there, and we see conditions as ideal for other companies to establish a foothold in this marketplace.”

Huawei Selects eASIC for Transport Network Backhaul
ME NewsWire/Business Wire
SANTA CLARA, Calif - Monday, October 27th 2014
eASIC Corporation, a leading provider of Single Mask Adaptable ASIC devices today announced that Huawei is using eASIC’s Nextreme-3 28nm devices to meet the increased system performance and aggressive costs required by Transport Network Products. Due to the increased throughput, Transport Networks require twice the clock performance of traditional communications.
Huawei investigated multiple options to meet the demanding performance, power and total cost of ownership targets set by the global operators, eASIC’s 28nm Single Mask Adaptable devices enabled Huawei to meet all the operator requirements.
“eASIC Nextreme-3 28nm device can provide higher performance, lower power to meet Huawei product requirements,” said Ronnie Vasishta, president and CEO of eASIC Corporation. “Expansion to the higher throughput in transport network is inevitable and this requires innovative solutions that can only be addressed with custom silicon. We are excited to be shipping products to Huawei and to help them meet their aggressive performance, power and cost objectives, as FPGAs can no longer meet these critical requirements.”
