ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Wednesday, June 8th 2016 [ME NewsWire]
To mark the auspicious month of Ramadan, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) will be launching the fifth edition of its Ramadan council, on Friday, under the slogan “This is what Zayed loves most”. The initiative is implemented under the auspices of the Martyrs’ Families Affairs Office.
These councils complement the initiative that started in 2012 to host such councils, as an effort from the MoI to involve the UAE citizens and provide them with the opportunity to discuss the important topics of interest to the public.
The Martyrs’ Families Affairs Office will be sponsoring these purposeful councils, which will pay tribute to martyrs this year, in recognition of their role and precious sacrifices to elevate their country, by setting up a "Martyr’s Tent” in each emirate. The office will be lending support and assistance to these councils, being the competent authority that makes sure that the bereaved families are given all the support and care they need.
Colonel Dr. Salah Obeid Al Ghoul, Director of Law Respect Culture Bureau, the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, noted that a host of values will be discussed at this year’s councils. “These values represent the essential pillars of the UAE community, as instilled by the founder of the country, late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who dedicated his life to build the country and its people, based on values, ethics and human vision. This approach has contributed to the birth of an ambitious modern state that worthily ranks amongst the most advanced countries in the world,” he continued.
Adding further, Colonel Al Ghoul said: “The Ramadan councils 2016 will tackle five different topics; notably the values of patriotism that late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan has instilled in citizens, and the way that he expressed his unconditional love for the country, since the establishment of the Union.”
The second topic will discuss the Emirati personality, the roots and ambitions. A personality that is deeply rooted in the heart and soul of each citizen, and demonstrated by the solid attachment to the values and traditions inherited through generations. It will also discuss the unrelenting and boundless ambition of this personality. The third topic to be discussed by the Ramadan Councils is titled “the UAE, symbol of coexistence”. It will highlight the individual, social and official efforts, which allowed the UAE to become a melting pot for hundreds of cultures and intellectual and social backgrounds, which coexist in harmony, tolerance and acceptance in this country.
Colonel Al Ghoul noted that the fourth topic will discuss “Emirati Happiness”, and will showcase how the UAE managed to achieve the happiness requirements for its people, by providing them with a decent life, healthcare, and education, all of which made the UAE rank high on the global happiness index.
The MoI’s Ramadan Councils will conclude its fifth season with the topic of “Emirati Generosity…the country and the individual”. This topic will shed the light on financial and moral generosity reflected by both the Emirati people and government. It will highlight the values of selflessness in the private and public Emirati personality, in a bid to attain the highest levels of humanity and constant giving.
In conclusion, Colonel Al Ghoul explained that this year’s Ramadan Councils will be launched on Friday June 10th (Ramadan 5th Night), in all the emirates of the UAE, and will continue until the 20th of Ramadan, (June 25th). It will consist of 43 councils, including 36 men’s councils in all emirates and seven women’s councils, one in each emirate. The councils will also include the “Martyr’s Tent”, which will host a number of MoI’s councils, one in each emirate.
