Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Wednesday, December 17th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
The Cocoona Centre for Aesthetic Transformation, is now utilizing a breakthrough concept of cosmetic and reconstructive breast augmentation.
Composite Breast Augmentation, a new procedure introduced in 2013 and published in a peer-reviewed plastic surgery journal, combines the use of fat grafting to an implanted breast and increases the projection of the breast while reducing the unnatural look of ‘artificial cleavage’. The new procedure additionally addresses the challenges and suboptimal results in breast augmentation that may result in breast deformities, caused by placing in the implant behind muscle, by safely placing the implant in the subfascial plane and covering it by normal breast gland fat and additional grafted fat under the skin layer.
Dr. Sanjay Parashar, Specialist Plastic Surgeon and Medical Director at Cocoona, said: “At Cocoona we perform an average of 60-100 aesthetic and reconstructive breast implants a year. By using the modern technique of harvesting and preparing the fat and grafting to different layers of the breast simultaneously - (fat can be harvested from many body areas including the arms, abdomen, hips, thighs and back) – our patients can have even more natural results.”
“The modern technique of harvesting and preparing the fat for grafting has an improved survivability of fat cells in the body, and may be repeated after four to six months. However, the limits of fat grafting should be respected,” said Dr. Parashar.
Dr. Mohan Rangaswamy, Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Cocoona, said: “Statistics show that about 197 patients have undergone the Composite Breast Augmentation over a three year period. Placement behind the muscles may still be needed in some skinny patients poor in fat donor areas”. One of the issues with placing behind muscles is that there is more pain and the muscle action can distort the implant during animation (this is called dynamism). “With fat graft contributing some volume, a smaller implant may also be chosen” says Dr. Mohan. In general if most of the breast volume is made of implant, it tends to look like and implant and if the major portion is natural tissue, it tends to look more natural and less ‘fake’.
