Winners of Minister of Interior’s Scientific Research Award Sign their Winning Publications

As a part of the Sharjah International Book Fair activities

A number of winners of the Minister of Interior’s Scientific Research Award recently signed their winning publications, as a part of the cultural activities accompanying the Sharjah International Book Fair in its 34th edition held at Expo Centre Sharjah. The winners are as follows:  First Lieutenant Maryam Mohammed Al Hammadi, from the Customer Service Department, the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, who ranked first with a research titled “Smart services in the UAE”; Captain Khalifa Saeed Al Fleiti, from the Weapons and Explosives Department at Abu Dhabi Police, came in second place with a research titled “National efforts to prevent terrorist attacks on soft targets”.

The signing ceremony was attended by Brigadier Saif Al Ziri Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police; Colonel Dr. Obeid Saleh, Director of the Sharjah Police Research Center; Major Dr. Omar Al Shehhi, Director of the Research and Survey Center at the Ministry of Interior; along with a number of officers at the Ministry of Interior and a crowd of interested individuals and visitors of the book fair.

Major Dr. Omar Al Shehhi, supervisor of the MoI’s Research and Survey Center’s pavilion at the fair, expressed his appreciation for the attention extended by the police leadership to develop the skills of national cadres, and to encourage them to make additional scientific research and achievements, in order to attain the best level of policing and administrative services provided to the public.

He also said that the Center’s participation in this distinguished annual cultural event reveals the ongoing commitment of the concerned police departments to participate in cultural and scientific events that are organized by the country’s authorities and institutions through various scientific fairs.

Captain Khalifa Saeed Al Fleiti who signed his publication titled “National efforts to prevent terrorist attacks on soft targets”, said: “The Minister of Interior’s Scientific Research Award has managed to achieve its objectives, notably encouraging intellectual and innovative individuals and motivating competitiveness among the Ministry of Interior’s staff members for the sake of developing police work. The Award is also designed to help identify scientific and academic skills and potential expertise of staff members, with a view to adopt them and invest them in improving the standards of police work and human sciences, thus enriching the police library with researches and studies”.

For her part, Lieutenant Maryam Mohammed Al Hammadi, who signed her publication titled “Smart services in the UAE” at the Research and Survey Center’s pavilion, expressed her deep appreciation and thanks for the attention dedicated by the police leadership to support the young talented Emirati talents and writers, as they contribute to advancing the ongoing cultural renaissance and progress witnessed by the UAE.

“The award has allowed everyone to contribute their expertise to the progress witnessed by police and security sector in the country. It includes all disciplines and areas that serve police and security work in general, and is different from other similar awards, because it not specifically designed for individuals; it encourages joint efforts on one single research,” she said.

She also expressed her thanks and appreciation for her university professors who taught her the rules of scientific research, as well as all for the supervisors of the award and the Ministry of Interior officials for the efforts exerted to support and encourage scientific research, and for supporting scientific competencies of the ministry’s staff members to enable them to forge ahead for the benefit the police force and society alike.

It is worth mentioning that the Research and Survey Center at the Ministry of Interior is taking part in the 34th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair through a special pavilion that includes a number of researches and publications that cover security, social, legal and police sciences, among others.
