SIPO Invalidated Vringo Patent for Lack of Invention

SHENZHEN, China. - Friday, March 20th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE) ZTE Corporation noted that the Patent Re-examination Board of the State Intellectual Property Office of the People’s Republic of China recently issued a document that one Vringo patent was wholly invalidated because of lack of invention.

The patent, which is a system and method, is numbered CN200580032286.0. So far, seven Vringo patents have been invalidated by the board.

As an owner of a substantial portfolio of patents, ZTE is fully committed to respecting the legitimate intellectual property rights of others. The company has signed a large number of patent cross-licensing agreements with many companies such as ATT, Qualcomm, Siemens, Ericsson, Microsoft and Dolby.

ZTE is still willing to have SEPs licensing based on FRAND principles. However, ZTE would defend itself from patent abuse and other illegal actions.
