Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Monday, January 19th 2015 [ME NewsWire]
Colonel Dr. Abdullah Mohammad Bu Hindi, Director of the Juveniles Care Center at Abu Dhabi Police called upon parents to educate their children regarding the importance of choosing good friends and to not befriend those that may be bad influences.
Such remarks will be broadcasted on the radio on Tuesday by the Director of the Juveniles Care Center at Abu Dhabi Police. The address falls within the framework of the ’Security Glances’ Campaign organized by the Radio Branch at the Security Media Department, the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
“It is the responsibility of the parents to educate their children regarding how to choose their friends,” Colonel Dr. Bu Hindi said. “They should introduce children to the characteristics of what a good friendship is. Ultimately, the most important relationship a child has is that with their parents, which thus allows parents to guide their children to make appropriate decisions and to behave well.”
Colonel Dr. Bu Hindi also noted that many signs of delinquent behavior form during childhood, which is a period in which children lack the ability to fully comprehend their surroundings and can be easily influenced by bad companions. “If parents establish a positive relationship with their children during these early stages of life, they can both educate their children and influence them to be more aware of their environment,” he said.
Colonel Dr. Bu Hindi stressed that the majority of issues that juveniles aged 12 to 18 face are a direct result of forming bad friendships. “To avoid juvenile delinquency, it is imperative that parents establish positive relationships with their child, nurture positive family dynamics, and pay attention to their child’s friendships in order to protect them against the dangers that are associated with forming bad friendships,” he said.
