Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police and Head of Victims Affairs Office Committee, inaugurated the emergency morgue table exercise, a first-of-its-kind at the countrywide level in the area of disaster victim identification (DVI).
This exercise aims at boosting the efficiency, readiness and coordination to the highest levels between the participating entities, in a bid to activate the emergency morgue in handling and preventing emergency situations or crisis, which require concerted efforts and resources.
Present during the exercise, which was recently organized at Novotel Hotel in Abu Dhabi, were officials from several police bodies, local institutions and departments across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Major General Al Raisi stressed the keenness to boost the level of readiness and preparedness and improve performance, in line with the Ministry of Interior’s vision and strategy. He also indicated that the goal of this exercise is to reach the appropriate operational procedures to identify disasters’ victims and activate the emergency morgue, so as to ensure the readiness and the ability to face disasters that result in mass casualties. It also aims at identifying the potential and capabilities of all entities involved in handling such accidents.
For his part, Major Raed Ali Al Muhairi, Director of the Victim Affairs Office, emphasized the importance of morgue equipment to successfully achieve the joint tasks. He gave a brief overview of the exercise and explained the stages of work at the morgue. Officers from the Victim Affairs Office explained the four stages according to the DVI Guide on the means to identify disaster victims. Moreover, attendees screened a video of an aircraft crash in Eastern Europe, so as to avail of this experience and to exchange expertise in the area of victim identification.
