Workshop to Promote the Mechanisms for Career Excellence in the Abu Dhabi Police

A workshop organized by the Abu Dhabi Police (ADP) discussed the mechanisms for career excellence in the Knowledge Council initiative. This initiative was launched by the Abu Dhabi Excellence Program (ADEP) at the General Secretariat of The Executive Council of Abu Dhabi, with contribution from 30 governmental bodies.

The workshop aimed to exchange ideas, advice and experience, discuss the acquisition of skills, deploy career excellence concepts and clarify the standards for the “Academic Excellence Award,” as well as new practices in preparing candidate reports and understanding the award standards and activities.

In his opening speech, Colonel Thani Butti Al Shamesi, Head of the Training Department at Abu Dhabi Police and Head of the Excellence Culture Spreading Team, stressed the importance of channeling employee capabilities at these institutions and turning them into a cohesive team, to facilitate the integration of efforts within these institutions and achieve both their objectives and the objectives of their staff.

Colonel Al Shamesi also stressed the importance of organizing these workshops regularly to foster partnerships and enhance the process of exchanging knowledge and views. He pointed out that the resulting culture of excellence contributes to providing the best services, in accordance with the vision of the Abu Dhabi Government.

During the workshop, titled “Career Excellence,” Saeed Al Marzouqi, the Excellence Coordinator at the Institutional Excellence Secretariat at the ADP General Headquarters, discussed its impact on achieving the governmental vision and directives, by first defining ‘career excellence’ and then explaining the elements of successful document drafting and the types and nature of both the documents and the evidence. He also explained the standards and activities involved in career excellence standards and presented examples of standards formulation and conducted exercises on drafting methods.

The participants agreed that such workshops contribute to enhancing and sharing staff members’ expertise in boosting career excellence. Shamma Hussein Al Hammadi, First Officer in Human Resources at the Center for Regulation of Transport by Hire Cars stressed that: “the workshop was important for transferring knowledge between the Abu Dhabi Government institutions and it also contributed to a greater, clearer and more precise understanding of the award standards.”

Sheikha Nasser Al Karbi, the Public Relations Officer at the Ajman Branch of Zayed House for Islamic Culture, said that the workshop showed that excellence is a national goal and duty for all employees, and contributes to elevating standards at work. 

Fatima Ahmad Al Harmoudi, Public Awareness Officer in recycling at the Center of Waste Management in Abu Dhabi, said that the participants and lecturers made the objectives, programs and methodologies clear at the workshop, where they were explained in a smooth way with a straightforward  explanation of written reports.

Nahla Maarouf Ba Obeid, Head of the Prevention, Studies and Reports Division at Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC), noted that the concept of career excellence, the standards of the Abu Dhabi Excellence Award and the new practices in preparing documentation were clarified through the workshop. “The workshop provided the participants with new skills on how to prepare the documentation for the Excellence Award,” said Amina Ahmad Al Marzouki, a Secretary at the National Rehabilitation Center.

Towards the end of the workshop, certificates of attendance were presented to the attendees from the governmental institutions, in appreciation and recognition of participant interaction.
