The Abu Dhabi Police took part in the events of the FanZone Entertainment program events organized on Abu Dhabi Corniche. The event, held under the slogan “The Road Has its Ethics and Speed has its Track”, is part of the awareness campaign launched by the Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Interior. It also falls within the current preparations for the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2014, which commenced today at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi and concludes on Sunday November 23.
Captain Abdul Muttalib Ahmed Al Hammadi, Chief of Media Studies and Security Coordination at the Security Media Department, said that the FanZone activities personify the Abu Dhabi Police commitment to spreading awareness among citizens, residents, and visitors of the UAE and acquainting them with the efforts exerted to boost traffic safety. To this end, the Abu Dhabi Police will showcase their traffic education patrols, which acquaint the public with traffic rules and regulations. They will also display the auto simulation device, which shed the light on the risks associated with driving on racetracks and how to handle potential difficulties. A driving educational seminar will also be on the event’s agenda, to acquaint visitors and children with safe driving behaviors in various weather conditions especially in fog, to teach them to identify speed limits in the city and comply with traffic laws.
Captain Al Hammadi also indicated that this year's events feature educational and promotional activities to educate visitors about the importance of wearing seatbelts while driving. The Emirates Driving Company will provide a simulated roll-over accident, to help drivers realize the vital importance and advantages of wearing seatbelts at all times in the car to avoid injuries in case of road accidents.
For his part, First Lieutenant Mubarak Hadef Al Khaili, Volunteers Branch Manager at the Community Police Department, explained that a number of Community Police volunteers took part in the FanZone activities. He also stressed that the Community Police Department constantly strives to instill the values of social responsibility and promote the culture of volunteering, “The Community Police Department is keen to encourage volunteer work, as a part of the strategic initiatives implemented by the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, in a bid to support and promote security, progress and development in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.” He added that a mechanism has been set forth to attract volunteers from all walks of life and invite them to volunteer in order to assist the police in raising awareness of community members, suggest solutions to combat negative phenomena and participate in organizing social events and activities.
Visitors included citizens and residents from all walks of life, who expressed their admiration for the Abu Dhabi Police awareness programs presented as a part of the FanZone events. They also praised the police efforts and commitment to acquaint them with the safety and security requirements, including traffic safety, domestic safety and fire prevention among others.
Vision Private School Emirati student Hamdan Ahmad Saleh commended the FanZone programs and activities, which were ‘excellent, exciting and suitable for children of all ages’ as he said. He added that he benefited greatly and enjoyed the rich program of educational and promotional activities, and received many gifts and booklets, which encourage awareness about safety requirements. Emirati young nationals Saif Saeed Al Mazroui, Suhail Mubarak Al Mazroui and Jassem Ali Al Mazroui confirmed that Abu Dhabi Police has always been at the heart of all major events. “The various activities organized by ADP aim at boosting the confidence and trust of citizens and residents, while the distinguished staff members of ADP are always at beck and call to provide assistance and respond to people’s needs wherever they may be,” they said.
