The Directorate General of Police Operations at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters concluded preparations for the third Seven-a-side Football Championship 2014, as part of the Capital Police Director’s Cup, scheduled to kick off next Monday. The tournaments, which will continue for 14 days, will host seven teams representing several police departments, stations, and sections.
During a meeting recently held at the Capital Police Directorate, the final preparations for the championship that will be organized at Zayed Sports City Stadium were reviewed. The single round-robin tournaments will be officiated by UAE Football Association (UAEFA) –certified referees.
The meeting was attended by Lieutenant Colonel Rashid Al Dhaheri, Director of Al Shabia Police Station representing the Director of the Capital Police Directorate; Major Mohammed Al Khouri, Chairman of the Sports Committee at the Directorate General of Police Operations; First Lieutenant Fahed Al Ameri, Chairman of the Sports Committee at the Capital Police Directorate; and First Lieutenant Alawi Zain Mohammad, the Championship’s Media manager.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Al Dhaheri, Director of Al Shabia Police Station, the championship aims at promoting cooperation and strengthening the close and friendly ties that exist between police staff members and their departments. “The championship supports the sports movement and achieves the goals of the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, which strives persistently to build cooperation and communication channels with all sectors and to support community-based, service, creative and athletic initiatives,” he said.
Lieutenant Colonel Al Dhaheri also praised the efforts of the Higher Sports Committee, the participating teams, the administrative, supervisory and auxiliary entities, as well as the sponsors. He also hailed the support of the police leadership for the football championships and expressed his hope of smooth success for the championship in order to achieve the coveted and distinguished objectives.
The participating teams will fight for glory and competition will be fierce in the quest for the championship’s cup. The participating teams are as follows: the Directorate General of Police Operations, the Capital Police Directorate, the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, Al Shabia Police Station, Al Khalidiya Police Station, Al Madina Police Station, and the Investigations Affairs Section at the Capital Police Directorate.
It is worth mentioning that the third Seven-a-side Football Championship 2014, as part of the Capital Police Director’s Cup will be organized in collaboration with the Government Departments Sports Association.
