The Security Support Section at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ) took part in crime fighting efforts in the UA city of Los Angeles, where it contributed to the arrest of a number of suspected outlaws in response to crime alerts and notifications; as part of its joint field drills with US patrols.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) praised the Security Support Section’s staff members’ high level of professionalism and readiness, as well as their respect for police and legal procedures.

The Abu Dhabi Police delegation, led by Lieutenant Colonel Khaled Saeed Al Shamesi, Chief of the Security Support Section, recently left the UAE on a visit to the USA. The visit aims at exchanging expertise with the US Police and measuring the remarkable capacities provided by the Security Support Section in carrying out its unconventional security tasks..

Lieutenant Colonel Al Shamesi said, “The Security Support Section managed to carry out successful field operations abroad with a high level of professionalism. Our team participated in 18 law enforcement operations, including stop-and-frisk on suspicion operations, detention short of arrest and arrest of suspects involved in drug-related crimes (possession and addiction) and aggravated menace with firearms. The suspects were tracked down and pursued in the streets of Los Angeles.”

Adding further, Lieutenant Colonel Al Shamesi explained that the Security Support Section accompanied the LASD Century Station patrols in their mission to carry out the above-mentioned operations, especially in Lindfield  Compton, after receiving notification regarding suspicious activities, on the second day of the delegation’s two-week visit to the USA.

Lieutenant Colonel Al Shamesi revealed that the Security Support Section staff members donned with advanced equipment and bulletproof vests participated in the police operations. They were briefed beforehand on the geographic information systems and coordinates, the stop-and-frisk and pursuit procedures adopted in the county and the names of the suspects detained in the field operation.

The Abu Dhabi Police delegation included Lieutenant Colonel Khaled Saeed Al Shamesi, Chief of the Security Support Section; Major Mohammed Mubarak Al Masa’bi, Security Support Patrols Branch Manager; Captain Mohammed Ibrahim Al Balas, Operations Planning Branch Manager; along with a number of other officers and experts from the section.

The Century Station personnel had received an overview of the various tasks and duties carried out by the Abu Dhabi Police Security Support Section and its role, as well as on the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters’ strategy, which prompted the officers to participate in the efforts to protect lives and property.

According to Wikipedia, Los Angeles is the largest city in California and is located in southwestern California on the Pacific coast. It is also the second most populous city in the USA after New York.

It is also worth mentioning that Century Station is the police stations with the highest rate of notifications and receives more than 230 calls daily, out of which 20% are considered as high security risk calls.
